Term limits on legislators are a popular reform in the United States. Many states (including Florida) have them at the state level and there is a lot of support for imposing term limits on members of the U.S. House and Senate. Term limits would reduce incumbency advantage by preventing any lawmaker from holding their seat for very long, and would remove it entirely for seats with a lawmaker who is now allowed to run for reelection. Let’s think through some possible consequences.
